When a whale dies and its carcass sinks to the bottom of the sea, it becomes a feast for the denizens of the ocean floor. Crabs and fish flock to the fallen giant and slowly reduce it to bones.

For my submission I tried to capture the feel of the ocean in a small melody via one of the most wonderful midi controllers available: Orca. The video above is the program playing the song you hear -- if you look closely you can see the tiny bits of logic operating and actively eating away at the whale.

Each of the instruments in the song is made from the project inspiration file. I clipped out, stretched, and shrunk bits of whalesong to make the sounds I needed.

With more time I'd have liked to master the song better -- I'm new to a lot of music-making details, and I think the final product may be a little unbalanced.
